Steve McNair and Saleh Kazemi By Terrell Woodfork
Before I start my article I'd like to give my condolences to the family and friends of Steve and Saleh. With that said I have been patiently waiting for all the facts to present themselves, like you and every one else that followed the tragic events. The murder - suicide thing just didn't add up. At some point I was expecting that Keith Norfleet, Saleh's ex boyfriend would be charged with a double murder. My reasoning was when the news first broke out Keith kept insisting that he and Saleh were reconciling. He believed it so intensely that he convinced family and friends alike. And supposedly on the night in question Saleh went over to the condo that she often stayed over night with Steve to break it off. What caught my interest were the conflicting statements. On one hand you have the delusional ex-boyfriend repeating over and over that they, he and Saleh, where to be a couple again. On the other hand Saleh's family and friends believed Steve was divorcing his wife to marry their Saleh. I'm sorry I just can't picture this scenario. Saleh saying Steve I'm leaving you for the White Castle managing wanna be rapper. So take these multiple gunshots to the body and just to let you know that I really mean business, I'm going to put a bullet in my head and fatally wound myself. I don't think so and any one with half a brain couldn't see that played out. And speaking of half a brain, there's the niece that said Sahel was just having fun. Hey lady people don't commit murder/suicide or stalk other women for a wee bit of fun. Saleh's nephew Farzin Abdi said that he couldn't believe that Saleh could kill someone especially someone she loved like Steve McNair, although the authorities painted a different picture of Saleh. She was in a terrible unbalanced emotional state. It's such a shame family and friends missed the boat on Saleh's cry for help. A lot of other articles focused on their age difference, she was star struck and therefore taken advantage of by an older well-respected man with celebrity status. Wait a minute are we talking about the same girl who made the decision to drop out of high school and move in with her now ex boyfriend? The same girl who made a conscious decision to date a married man? Come on lets get our standards straight before we throw age up in this. We all know plenty of women young and old that if they had a chance to have an affair with Brad Pitt or Denzel Washington they would go for it. The morals of this country confuse me. It's ok for an eighteen old woman to enlist and die in another country, its ok for an eighteen year old to make a living as a porno actress. But she's being manipulated and used when she's dating an older man? Hell, then George Clooney and countless other celebrities and politicians (like John McCain) are setting a bad example for men. In closing Steve McNair should be remembered for his unselfishness to his community and his contribution to football not by his affair or affairs after all JFK, FDR and Clinton are remembered and honored for their contribution to the society.
