Tackling the Abstract, by Sidik Fofana
How do you measure change?
For even air can be measured
Is change what moves air, displaces it?
Is change what makes humans
Populate the Earth with rich and fleshy limbs
Only to have their carne wither
Is change what makes a father
Watch his son mimic him
And again unknowingly
Is change loud?
I venture to ask
What it sounds like?
Change can be a firecracker
On a familiar face
Or as quiet as time
An unidentifiable spy
Making kids laugh, making adults dry
Change is a drug, screwing with my perception
A one hit wonder worshipped
A retroactive classic
When I introduce Father time
To his adolescent self
Change makes the acquaintance awkward
Change is both asexual and fertile
Both death and birth are its offspring
Change is love's most aggressive rival
Catching it is one thing
Taming it is another.
